The Escuela Estado de Israel is a
public primary school located in the town of Nahuizalco,
in the department of Sonsonate, in El Salvador that
gives elementary education to 1,650 children between the
ages of 1-9 in three shifts. The school has 34 teachers,
21 classrooms and one computer room with 10 computers.
IMMEDIATE NEEDS

Instruction and supplies (SAHF will
arrange and pay for shipment from Miami to El Salvador):
• School supplies like backpacks, shoes, notebooks,
pencils, etc (used and new)
• Computers (used and new)
• Books and libraries (used and new, English and
Spanish)

HILDA ROTHSCHILD
FOUNDATION
ILOPANGO LAKE
EL SALVADOR
The Hilda Rothschild Foundation has
programs to give school readiness with a focus on early
literacy and parent involvement. Located in the Lake
Ilopango, 15 minutes from San Salvador, the Foundation
runs a bakery, a clinic and a computer center. The HRF
was founded and is led by three CIES members.

INSTITUTO
ESTADO DE ISRAEL
JERUSALÉN, LA PAZ
EL SALVADOR
This public school is located in the
town of Jerusalén, in the department of La Paz, in El
Salvador. It was rebuilt by the CIES and the Joint after
the 2001 earthquake and has a capacity of 150 students
between the ages of 12-15. The school has 9 teachers
that give technical/vocational education and general
studies in 8 classrooms and one computer room with 14
computers.
IMMEDIATE NEEDS
There are virtually no textbooks in
the school.
• Need 4 books per student ($5,000.00).
Teacher training program.
$5,000 to $10,000 per year
Scholarships:
• The cost of each scholarship is $75.00 a year.
• We intend to give scholarships to 50 students who
can’t afford education ($3,750.00).
Lunch program:
• Many students don’t have enough money to afford a
proper lunch.
• The cost of a proper lunch has been estimated in $0.55
per day per student ($16,500.00 per year for all
student).
Dining room:
• The school doesn’t have a dining room. Students
have to eat on the floor.
• The estimated budget of a covered dining room is
$7,000.00
WHAT WE’VE DONE SO FAR
• Reconstruction of the whole school
by the CIES and the Joint after the 2001 earthquake.
• Reconstruction of the septic tank for the school’s
bathrooms.
• Donation of a water tank for the school’s water
supply.

KINDERGARTEN ESTADO DE

The Kindergarten Estado de Israel is a
public preschool sponsored by the CIES since 1960. It
was rebuilt by the CIES and the Joint in 1988 after the
1986 earthquake. This kindergarten gives education to
150 kids, employs 7 teachers and has 5 classrooms and
one multipurpose room.
IMMEDIATE NEEDS
